How I Accidentally Met Eric Graham in Denver

It was a Thursday like any other Thursday.

Except on that Thursday, I checked my spam folder and happened to see a message from Rick Raddatz. The message said there was a seminar in Denver starting in less than 48 hours. It also said Rick had arranged some free seats for his customers.

I checked out the sales letter. Nothing caught my eye until I noticed that Eric Graham was going to be speaking. If you don't now Eric, he is known as The Conversion Doctor.

Since my wife is pregnant, I hadn't expected to be going to any seminars. But this one was right in Denver. And I really wanted to meet Eric in person and hear him speak. So I called immediately and said I would be coming.

I'm glad I went. I learned a few things from Eric that I put into practice last week. I also asked Eric if I could get a picture with him. He said yes. If you'd like, you can see the picture here.

If you ever get the chance to see Eric speak, I encourage you to do so. And make sure to check out his blog too. From time to time he posts the results of split-tests he's conducted. That information is gold if you apply it.

Why I Won't Go to Michel Fortin's Copywriting Workshop

Did you know Michel Fortin is holding a Web 2.0 copywriting workshop in early November?

The focus will be on how to write copy for video, audio, and other multimedia.

But I won't be going... because... my wife is due with our third child on November 4.

Michel's workshop is November 10-11. If I went, my wife would kill me.

If circumstances were different, I would be there. Here's why...

Let's Go Back to October 2005

In October 2005, I attended a copywriting workshop in Denver.

It was put on by Michel Fortin and Ken Calhoun. And it was the best copywriting workshop I've ever attended.

When I say "best," I mean it. Two years later, I'm still using the information I got at that workshop.

In fact, just this summer I referenced the materials they gave me to implement some new strategies.

Can You Handle the Heat?

Michel Fortin and Ken Calhoun also did hot seats at this particular workshop.

I got in one of them.

Man, that was embarrassing. I put up the first draft of my copywriting lead generation letter... and they ripped it to pieces!

Even the audience was giving me advice.

Holy smokes... I was feeling the heat. My face was hot. My cheeks were red.

My friends Ray Edwards and John Anghelache were both there. They had a front row seat to the verbal carnage.

But, despite this humiliation, the hot seat was some of the most profitable learning ever.

Have you ever been in a situation where you remember every single second... almost as if you're brain's memory was recording a video?

That's what a hot seat is like.

Turns out, Michel and his buddy, Dan O'Day, will be doing hot seats at this new Web 2.0 workshop.

If you go, make sure you get a hot seat. This alone will be worth the cost to attend.

If You Go, I'll Send You a Gift Worth $100

If you decide to attend and order through the affiliate link below, I will send you a gift worth $100. It is a DVD by James Brausch that shows you how to record and create your own DVDs to sell.

I encourage you to read Michel's letter and see what the workshop is all about.

Clearly, this is my affiliate link:

If you're not interested in my bonus gift, and you'd rather go straight to the sales page without sending me an affiliate commission, just go here...

My Best,

Ryan

P.S. I'm usually a "late adopter" when it comes to new technology. But Web 2.0 is one area where you don't want to wait. Be an "early adopter" so you master the skills and start profiting from them before your competition has a chance to react.

Simon Says... The Reunion Was Great!

I made a new friend in San Francisco. His name is Simon Leung.

Now Simon was smarter than me. He brought his digital camera. I did not.

Over on Simon's blog, you'll see his recap of the Teleseminar Secrets Reunion. It includes a few pictures, including an especially good one of the back of my head. (I'm in the bright red flannel.)

I agree with Simon's summary of the event: "It was definitely something special."

Rockin' It in San Francisco (Plus a Surprise Gift)

Whoever leaves on launch day?

Well, I did.

Went to San Francisco on Thursday morning (the same day John opened the doors to his Copywriter Profits course) and just got back to Denver a couple hours ago.

Alex Mandossian called me up in front of the room and shared with the audience that I'm part of his preferred vendor network.

I didn't expect the public recommendation, and I'm glad Alex was generous enough to do it.

I love it when business is rockin'--and so I got to thinking...

What can I do to help you get started and get booked solid with quality clients?

As you probably know, John Angel is already offering 30 minutes on the phone with the first 20 people to grab the newest version of his Copywriter Profits course.

Why shouldn't I do the same?

I've decided I too will offer the first 20 purchasers a 30-minute one-on-one session with me on the phone to ask any question you'd like.

==> Ask me about how I write copy, how I get clients, anything that's on your mind.

I charge a minimum of $250.00 an hour for consultations (I have really been paid this rate)--so this is like an extra $125.00 gift to you, just for being decisive and taking action.

So you not only get 30 minutes to pick John's brain... you get an additional 30 minutes to pick mine.

That's a full hour to get all your freelance copywriting questions answered--without being interrupted by anyone else!

I'm hoping this is just the motivation you need to get a copy of John's course and get started on the path to success as a highly paid freelance copywriter.

I don't yet know how many courses have been sold since Thursday, but I do know it's currently more than one and less than 20.

All I can say is... if you're interested in this free bonus gift, you'll want to order right now.

Best,

Ryan

P.S. Grab your copy of John's course and you'll get a half hour on the phone with him...

...plus an EXTRA half hour on the phone with me. But only the first 20 to order will get this. Claim your bonus gifts here:

1,000 Copywriting Prospects for Just $1

How would you like to connect with 1,000 qualified copywriting prospects for just one dollar?

Now you can...

You see, Alex Mandossian and Armand Morin have decided to hold back-to-back Customer Appreciation Seminars this June—one in L.A. and one in Orlando.

You can attend either one for just $1.

How powerful are seminars for finding new clients?

Well, consider this. I just attended Big Seminar at the beginning of April. There were about 500 people there. And I've already booked over $10,000 in new business!

So now you have the opportunity to attend a seminar where there will be a thousand qualified prospects in attendance. Don't you think you could pick up at least one new client?

In just a moment, I'm going to give you a link and I'm going to ask you to click on it. I won't make a dime whether you click on the link or not. I won't even make a dime when you decide to attend.

So why am I doing this?

Because I wrote the sales copy for the event!

Alex and Armand have a lot riding on these events. Since they hired me to write the copy, I have a vested interest in seeing that my copy succeeds.

If it does, Alex and Armand are likely to hire me again. That's my selfish reason for telling you about the Customer Appreciation Seminars. :-)

That aside, I still think it's a great opportunity for you to do some "power networking" and pick up a few clients.

Here's what I want you to do...

Step #1: Click on the link below that says: "Yes, I will consider going to a Customer Appreciation Seminar in June."

Step #2: Enter your name and email to access the sales page. Then read the letter I wrote.

Step #3: If you register, I want you to come back here and leave a comment telling me that you registered. If you will do that, I will send you a surprise gift.

Fair?

OK. Here's the link:

"Yes, I will consider going to a Customer Appreciation Seminar in June."

PS - I will be at both Customer Appreciation Seminars. I look forward to meeting you there!

Oh, the People You'll Meet!

Just got back from Big Seminar on Sunday night.

Man, what an event!

The speakers were awesome; the networking even better.

John Phillips, the one guy who decided to step up and take his copywriting business to the next level, was already closing business Monday morning!

Click the Play button below for a quick audio message from me about Big Seminar:

I decided to post a few photos of me with some of the "celebrities" that attended Big Seminar. Just click the link below to view the pictures.

Ryan Hypnotized?

Just got back from Dan Kennedy's Superconference late Sunday night.

The most embarrassing part?

I'll tell you.

Scott Lewis was doing his stage hypnosis show (which he normally does in Vegas) on Thursday night. He asked for volunteers and I decided, why not?

I ran on-stage with 19 other volunteers. We took our seats and Scott went to work hypnotizing us.

Now, hypnosis, in my opinion, is simply a relaxed state in which you're more open to suggestion. It does not mean somebody else has control over you, although that's what everyone tends to believe.

After Scott completed the hypnosis, he had us do silly things: act like we were playing an "air instrument" at a concert, pretend we were prizefighters training for a boxing match, etc.

Well, when he got to "Now you're a porn star"... I was done.

I've worked with junior high kids before and I've done plenty of silly things on-stage, without being hypnotized. But there was no way I was going to behave like that, much less in a room full of my colleagues.

Scott asked us to return to our stage seats where he proceeded to put us back to "sleep." (He puts his hand on your head and pushes it down and says "sleep.")

He was working his way down the line saying, "Sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep..." When he got to me, he said, "You can return to your seat."

That was it.

I stood up and walked off-stage.

I was a little bit embarrassed about it, but felt much better as an audience member. :-)

The highlight of the weekend (for me) was seeing Joel Bauer speak. That guy is simply amazing. I've never seen such an effective closer. I guarantee he sold more people from the stage than any other speaker all weekend.

Not only that, he also did a bonus "Pajama Party" session and spoke until 2:30 on Sunday morning! He had a crowd of over 100 people all hanging out in the hall listening to his stories and information on how to get free publicity.

If you ever have the chance to hear Joel speak, I highly suggest you take the opportunity.

And get this.

While I was there, I also met a fellow copywriter who writes for Rodale and some other big mailers. Nobody you've ever heard of. And yet he was just talking casually about it all, as if writing for the big mailers was no big deal.

If I can convince this guy to let me do an interview on a teleseminar, I'll be the first to let you know.
