Thanks Ryan, these are great scriptures to keep in mind before pounding our chests after scoring a big success.

Well said as always, Ryan.

I feel the same about the boasters out there. For one, I don't really care what so-and-so's income is, though I'm quite happy for them. But this is an issue that's bugged me from the very beginning.

So thank you for putting it out there.

Ryan,

Wow.

I guess I will be part of the 5% club this year...but that means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, unless I am helping others join that same club or better.

And yes, I do thank Him everyday for the gifts that were granted to me in this respect.

Ryan,

Thank you for reminding us of Who is really behind our successful careers (and our incomes).

I think it's easy to boast about talent and take credit for things that we ultimately have no control over. As you pointed out, we must always remember that God allowed us to be successful; He is Who deserves full credit for our successes.

On the flip side, remembering His promise to provide is especially important for those NOT in the 2% or even 5% categories. Obviously, that characterizes most people out there. When work loads are leaner and incomes do not rise to high levels, it can be challenging to remember that God has a way of making a few thousand dollars mysteriously stretch to meet our needs (see Mark 6:34 - 44).

Both financial extremes only speak of God's ultimate authority over our lives.

Life is a gift from God, as are our talents. It's not how much (or how little) we earn, but how we spend our lives that truly matters. Money is just a tool that can generate blessings. Using our money to bless others pleases God and in turn transforms our lives into fulfilling ones defined by eternal value. Thank you for keeping our focus on that reality.

Ben, Chris, Joe, and Tiffany - Thank you all for your comments!

And Tiffany, thanks for reminding us of the importance of HOW we live our lives.
